Children come to our clinic for 1:1 treatment. Treatment sessions are generally scheduled on a weekly basis. Occasionally we recommend twice a week sessions, usually for short periods of time. Active treatment is typically a 50 minute session, reserving the last 5-10 minutes of your session for parent/therapist consultation and to go over your home program. Our therapists are available for additional consultation by appointment. Some parents stay in the treatment room with their child, many do not as they find their child often does better without them.

In addition to the services above SUMA Kids offers two additional programs:

Therapeutic Listening™ a sensory based auditory processing program, developed by occupational therapists.  This program integrates sound technology with sensory integrative therapy, emphasizing vestibular activities. It is an affordable and easy to use program has positive effects on many children. Parent report increased focus and attention, reduction of sensory defensive behaviors, improved fine motor skills, bilateral coordination and motor planning, improvement in sleep cycles and less mood variances and many other positive changes.

The Perceptual/Organization/Problem Solving Program (POPS) is a short-term, non-academic program that uses graded tasks to help the child to fully master early cognitive and developmental concepts necessary to creative thinking and problem solving.  Children with learning delays/disabilities; executive function challenges; sequencing and organizational issues; visual motor integration deficits; 2-dimentional processing delays (able to make 3D Legos but can’t write); bilateral integration issues; delayed imaginative play; underlying visual-perceptual issues; working memory issues; spatial based handwriting concerns are children who can benefit from the POPS program.
